AI for Academic Freedom

Use AI to make room for better academic work — and a better life around it.

AI for Academic Freedom is a small, supervised programme for academics who want to use AI differently: to move meaningful work forward while building a healthier and more sustainable way of working.

A different question about AI

This is not primarily a course about prompts or tools. It begins with a more important question:

What would your academic work look like if AI improved its conditions, rather than simply increasing its volume?

You will build a simple personal system that connects your longer-term direction, current projects, weekly decisions, and everyday work. You will then use AI in deliberate, bounded experiments — as a thinking partner, critic, researcher, editor, or delegated executor — and examine what genuinely helps.

You are a PhD researcher, postdoc, or academic who is curious about AI but does not want a faster version of an already exhausting working life. You want enough structure to move important projects forward, while protecting health, judgment, authorship, and life outside work.

This is not a prompt-engineering bootcamp, a demand to automate everything, or a promise that everyone should work while walking. It is a supervised space for building and testing a way of working that is genuinely yours.
